At Radiance Restored, we want you to know that you are not alone. The shame and confusion of betrayal and abuse can be devastating. This is a common experience. We know and understand how it feels. Whether you just found out or are many years out, and whether you have had to take the steps to separate for your safety or are working towards reconciliation, our retreats offer opportunities to find hope and healing. Our God desires your good. He wants to restore your radiance.
We believe knowledge, wisdom, and wise counsel are important for good discernment. Radiance Restored seeks to enlighten the betrayed and abused about harmful cycles in which they find themselves. Understanding how your spouse’s behaviors impact you can empower you to take steps to safety and healing.
Radiance Restored acknowledges the sovereign will of God and the powers of darkness. Even though we believe Good has already triumphed, battles for each and every soul continue to be waged here on earth. Our marriages and families are under attack. Prayer and fasting are necessary to drive out certain demons. We encourage women to pray and fast for their spouses and families as spiritual practices. This is not a guarantee, however, that your family will be reconciled or that your spouse will repent and change. Your spouse’s free will is not yours to control. Neither is God a puppeteer who will bow to our wishes if we just pray hard enough. Sometimes, deliverance comes in unwanted ways and sometimes the answer is no. These are difficult truths. Finding the strength to endure this kind of suffering comes from our faith and our community. Praying for our spouses in no way excuses their behavior. It does not replace the need for repentance. It does keep our hearts soft and open to the mercy our God wants to grant us.
Below are a few suggestions for praying. We were not meant to carry our crosses alone; even Jesus had Simon. Reach out to friends, family, and your church community for spiritual support. His grace is sufficient and his power is made perfect in our weakness (2 Cor 12:9).
